My works are projections onto acrylic plates of images, memories, and impressions that emerge like flashbacks from experiences throughout my life. Neo Tokyo was inspired by Katsuhiro Otomo’s AKIRA, which I first encountered as a student.
The work developed through several stages. The initial version emphasized strong contrast and explosive energy. From there, I focused on intensifying the central textures and fragmented structures within the composition. This process led to Version 2, in which the word “TOKYO” was incorporated to reinforce the atmosphere and visual references associated with AKIRA. Finally, in Version 3, the text was removed entirely, allowing the image itself to carry the sense of tension, velocity, and memory.
