-残響- After the Wave originates from a memory of camping on a beach during autumn.
After the Wave originates from a memory of camping on a beach during autumn.
At night, while falling asleep inside the tent, I could hear the sound of the waves gradually moving closer. In the darkness, the distance and position of the sea became uncertain, and half-asleep, I imagined unseen waves emerging from the dark, feeling both fear and anticipation as I waited for morning. The following day, seeing the traces left by the tide, I was struck by the realization that the water had nearly reached us.
In this work, I sought to preserve that memory as an abstract trace. The layered lines, bleeding forms, and eroded textures evoke the movement of water advancing, receding, and leaving behind only its residual marks.
For me, waves are not simply a natural phenomenon, but a metaphor for the instability of memory and the passage of time. The traces that remain belong to something already gone, yet continue to persist as a physical sensation within the present.
